It is with great pleasure as Mayor, that I WELCOME and invite you to browse our website as you peruse the offerings of this magnificent, Sunshine City of Portmore, the Metropolis which has a future beyond compare and one which I proudly represent.
Whether you are a resident or visitor, here exist a website that seeks to expose a place enthroned with natures beautiful gifts and tropical pride, characterized by the warmth and patriotism its people, the cultural uniqueness, a diverse plethora of worship experience, recreational facilities, white sand beaches of the Caribbean sea, surrounded by hilly Inclines , picturesque plains of waving canfields…Yes my Friends this is a place rich in natures heritage, recreation, business and shopping opportunities.
To promote our history and project our offerings, this Sunshine City, located in St. Catherine came to life from a rustic, swampy sparsely cultivated landscape now boast the largest and fastest growing community in Jamaica now constitutes over 60 % of St. Catherine’s Population. We have a perfect mix of home solutions to include gated communities. There is business and entertainment of varied kinds to make visiting an authentic experience of comfort and pleasure. This Metropolis boasts the largest Shopping Mall in the English Speaking Caribbean…. There is also the Skeet Club …if the sport of shooting is your specialty, there is Jam World which hosts the annual Music Festival, STING each December, The Port Henderson Hip Strip where the night life indulgence is immense yet diverse, The Fort Clarence Beach and the notable Hellshire Beach -famous for its white sand and sumptuous fish and bammy… a taste you will never forget. , the two sisters Cave another fabulous attraction found in the scenic hills of Hellshire.Portmore also boaststhe only Race Track in Jamaica, The Caymanas Park which catersto the fun and entertainment of the whole family. The Management of our Municipality is done from our offices situated at the Portmore Pines Plaza . We also have our own Tax office, in close proximitywhich enables revenue collection for efficient management and service delivery. Our services include:
- Building Plans processing
- Sub-Division approvals
- Licensing of places of amusement and other micro enterprise such as Barber and Hairdressers
- Management of Infrastructure to include Drain Cleaning, Road Repairs, Garbage Collection, Maintenance of Green Areas, oversight on the Health Services and Fire Prevention, among others.
The Municipality is governed by a directly elected Mayor and Councillors with operational oversight from the Portmore Citizens Advisory Council (PCAC).
